The need of the hour is a PATRIOTISM Act

The need of the hour is a PATRIOTISM Act

Students are supposed to be the future of the Nation. But, looking at the attitude of some of the students of the Hyderabad University, the Jawaharlal Nehru University and the Jadavpur University, one has to put his head down in shame.

The Osmania University students hosted a Beef party. The Hyderabad University students organised Pro-Yakub Memon rallies. The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students paint a martyr out of Afzal Guru. So in effect, these universities have become terrorist hubs.

Look at the language they used while demon-strating:  On 3rd February, some of the Jawaharlal Nehru University students organised a demonstration, in front of the RSS Office in New Delhi (not in Jantar Mantar as should be the case), protesting against the suicide of Rohith Veluma in Hyderabad University campus. They used filthy slogans, such as “Bhangi ke Aulad”,  “Bhadva”, etc. for our Prime Minister.

The demonstration on 9th Feb. 2016 by the students of JNU, had more dangerous portents. They raised slogans such as “Bharat ki barbadi tak jung chalegi" (there will be war till the destruction of India), "Bharat tere tukde honge, Insha Allah Insha Allah" (India, you'd be divided, Allah willing, Allah willing) and “Kashmir ki azadi tak jung chalegi”. They raised these slogans in a “Cultural” event organised to condemn the “judicial killing” of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Many other slogans, such as “Azadi for Kashmir”, “Azadi for Kerala”, “Azadi for Manipur”, etc. were also raised.

The extreme Left groups - the Democratic Students Union (DSU, a CPI-Maoist front) and the Democratic Students Front - were behind the protest on February 9.
Can we expect any better future for the nation, from these type of students (a minuscule section)?

This is not the first time JNU has been the object of popular anger and public scorn. They worshiped Mahisasur in place of Goddess Durga during Navratri festival. They invited Kashmiri separatist leader Geelani for a meeting and asked for beef in the hostel mess.

In 1999, in the midst of the Kargil war, the students in JNU organised an India-Pakistan mushaira. In 2009, when 76 CRPF men were killed in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, there was celebration in the campus and the Indian flag was burnt by the activist of AISA and other naxal group. They also organised night-long revelry to ‘celebrate’ the massacre of 76 CRPF jawans. The next year, Arundhati Roy, speaking to her admirers at JNU, justified the killing of security forces to loud applause and louder cheers.

These are just a handful of many such instances which have never got the limelight that it deserved. Further, no action whatsoever was initiated against all those involved in the incidences by the then UPA Govt.

In fact, the UPA was treating these anti-nationals with kid gloves. It had a soft corner for these antinationals, which is even continuing today. For example, Rahul Gandhi has defended these anti-nationals. But, look at the irony:

The JNU students were protesting against the hanging of Afzal Guru. Afzal was hanged during UPA govt. Rahul comes out in support of JNU students knowing that they were actually protesting against his party’s decision. JNU students readily accept Rahul's support knowing that he is the representative of the govt who hanged Afzal.

All the political parties, including the Congress, but except the BJP, have come in support of the JNU students. CPI leader Daniel Raja's (a Rajya Sabha MP) daughter is also among the anti national activists.

It is to be noted that the people who protested Rohit Vemula’s suicide in Delhi and those who organised Afzal Guru cultural programme are the same.
When the entire country seems to have junked Left ideology for good, the JNU campus still reverberates with the shout of “Lal Salaam”.

JNU has always acted as a recruitment ground for radical ideologies. CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat and politburo member Sitaram Yechury are living examples of how campus life helped boost political careers.

After academics and politics, the most sought after career for JNU students has been journalism. Some of the top editors in both print and television are from JNU. No doubt, we see Rajdeep Sardesais and Barkha Dutts in the media, who are more interested in highlighting the beating of a few journalists in the Patiala court, than exposing the anti-national and terrorist activities in JNU.

The Modi Govt., unlike the UPA govt., has taken on these terrorist hubs. Cases have been filed against some of the JNU students. This is not enough. Students of Jadavpur University, who shouted slogans in support of Afzal Guru, and students of Hyderabad University, who eulogised Yakub Memon, should also be hauled up. These universities should be cleansed of these anti-national elements, so that they bring out nationalist students.

As a first step, the HRD ministry has instructed all universities to fly the national tricolour. Fine. But this is not sufficient. Much more needs to be done.

First, there should be a loyalty test for every Indian, about which I wrote in my letter to the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, on 27th May 2014, which was also published in Hindu Voice, June 2014 issue, titled ‘Simple ways to Hinduise Bharat’.

I wrote: “Make the slogans ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ compulsory for every citizen, to ensure their absolute loyalty to India - Indian first and Hindu, Muslim, Christian later. These were the slogans which kindled nationalist feelings amongst Indians and brought them together during our freedom movement. They unite all Indians, irrespective of their caste, creed, language, religion and region. ... Any one refusing to say  ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ should be disenfranchised. The application form to enrol new voters should carry an undertaking to this effect.”

I further wrote: “Bring a new law to declare any one as persona non grata, who intentionally - insults our National Anthem;  refuses to say ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’; shouts Pakistan Jindabad; insults our security forces; burns our National flag; spews venom in the name of religion and castes; talks of dividing India; supports giving away any part of India; talks of human rights for terrorists; etc. Their voting rights and fundamental rights must be forfeited, and they be allowed to just subsist.”

For the last many decades, the Nehruvian Congress has allowed to prosper a group of people as the fifth columnists. To eliminate them, such a law is imperative.
